For those of you who follow me on Facebook as well know that on Feb 14th, 2011 I decided to give up sweets for a year. Initially it was to help me lose weight and as my grandpa nicely told me one time "well that ain't gonna happen unless you run everyday..." Thanks, Gramps. So I may not have lost weight, but I managed to maintain the same weight w/o doing much working out until I got pregnant- then the weight scale hit the fan!
Feb 14th, 2012 rolled around and I celebrated 1 year with no sweets. Now, don't get me wrong, I 'cheated' a few times. On our anniversary, I had a bite of our cake- come on, I had too, that's one of those "once in a lifetime" deals- and really, it was only a bite, I promise. I also ate Chocolate covered strawberries on my birthday. I didn't classify pop as a sweet this go around, so I still drank some pop as well.
I think twice- out of 365 days, thanksgiving pies, Christmas candies, and everything in between- I did a pretty dang good job! I was very proud of myself! Some of my friends did a good job of holding me accountable- and some {cough, shannon, cough} kept telling me the baby was missing out! HAHA! I have heard some people who've given them up because I've inspired them, and I think that's great. I am 100% convinced now that if you put your mind to something, it can be accomplished.. and not just with food, but with weight loss, goals, dreams, work, whatever it may be for you- YOU CAN DO IT!
So the outcome: My friends are too good to me and brought me 3 boxes of sour patch kids- bless their hearts.. I ate one whole bag in one sitting- holy not okay! I ate sweets for 4 days, a massive amount of sweets, UNLIKE me amount of sweets {thanks baby j} so I decided to give them up again, at least until the baby is here. I've done a pretty good job on my weight gain and I didn't want sweets to be the reason I gained non-needed weight that will just be a b**** to get off after he's here!
You may be wondering if I gave up something for the next year, I did! Two things I started when I got pregnant was drinking pop and eating fast food- totally unlike me, hadn't really done either of those since college. So, that's my year two-- no pop and no fast food.
