Our First Letter

Being involved in our Church, Indian Creek, and other activities as such, we here a lot about sponsoring children through ministries such as World Vision. Whenever Jon and I hear about these ministries we always just look at each other and say " we really need to do that" but never take action. August 9th, we finally took action. We 'adopted' {sponsored} our first little girl, Alishia, from Uganda.

You may be wondering what sponsoring a child means. For $35 a month, our child gets clean water, healthcare, nutritious food, education, and much more. These children are from areas that things like water and food aren't always available. Knowing that just for $35 a child in desperate need is now well taking care of. On top of that, we will be able to send her small care packages with things like paper and pen's to draw, stickers, small toys- things we don't think twice about purchasing for our own children or friends.

Anywho- right away I sent Alishia a letter- I thought it would be longer to hear back but we got our first letter yesterday. After having a rough day of not feeling well, I opened her letter and held back tears of joy. It was so rewarding to hear from her. She informed us of her favorite foods, colors, and activities. Not going to lie, Jon and I had to look up some of the food to see what she was talking about! :)

One of our favorite parts says, " I always go to church with my parents, brothers{2}, and sisters{4} and other people for praising and sing for the Lord" - what blessing that her and her family already know the Lord!

My favorite part is the last line, " May almighty God bless you so much. Love and greetings from Alishia, your child."

This 8 year old child is asking God to bless US! What a powerful little girl. I cannot wait to get to know her more and more.

If you haven't ever thought of sponsoring a child, you should. Visit : World Vision Donations to get started.

Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms. - 1 peter 4:10

Until next time,
LJ
