Working for a Company that Cares

Two years ago I graduated college with a degree in Communication Studies. Not 100% sure what I was wanting to do with my life, I began applying for any and every job. I eventually landed a job with Henry Schein Dental as their Administrative Assistant for the KS region. At first it was "just a job." However, the longer I work for them, the more they become like family to me. Henry Schein is a fortune 500 company- it covers not only Dental but Medical and Vet as well. The Dental side alone has 2,600 employees. I didn't think in this big of a company I would EVER know who the president of this company is. However, that's not the case with HSD! Not only do I know who the president is, but he takes the time {I'm sure with plenty of reminders} to send out hand written messages and e-mails when big things happen.

Here's the e-mail I received when I got married:

In July, I celebrated my 2 year work anniversary and I received this in the mail:

I know most of you are thinking "really Lauren, someone probably dose it for him.."  That's the thing- ya someone may remind him or mail it for him but it's the thought that counts. It's the thought that a company with that many employees has a president that doesn't just care about how much money the company's making- but rather the people who make this company run.

It's made me appreciate that this ins't just a "after college job" it's a job with co-workers that I call friends and a boss that is like a 2nd father figure to me. It's encouraging having that support behind you. The support for the employees is just one thing they do to show they care. Henry Schein Cares provides tons of support to victims- just like the Joplin Tornado. It's a company that truly stands behind their word. Thanks, HSD, for all you do for us!
