Happy Birthday, Dad!

This past Friday was my dad's 50th Birthday! I told him he doesn't act or look a day over 25 and he had to disagree with me. For his birthday the family gathered our campers, tents, skillets, fire wood, and food and headed down to Melvern Lake to spend the weekend camping. Oh what fun we had! Friday night we sat around the campfire for hours and LAUGHED until we had tears streaming from our eyes and our stomach hurts. It was quite the humbling experience, not many families get together outside of Holidays. I see most my family (immediate and extended) at least once a week. It's something sometimes we seem to take for granted and God has made me realize not to- to appreciate the time we have together because we never know when one will get taken from us.

At the end of the night, I heard my dad, in between laughing say, "This is the best birthday I've had..." that right there brought a smile to my face.

The weather Saturday was beautiful- some went fishing, some went walking, some slept (a lot), and of course, we ate. It was nice to be "unplugged" from reality- no phones or computers to distract us- just quality family time to relax and enjoy each others company...

Here are a few pictures from the weekend...

I got to spend all weekend with my Nora girl... we just love her! Here I was trying to pick up and she thought she wanted to play with the monkey balls.. what a brat :)

Baby W, on our walk... such a CUTIE. Looks like just his Momma

Dad taking a little nap.. looks cozy, eh?

FIRE! This saved many of us from being froze and allowed us to make yummy s'mores!

On our walk... God's creations our sure beautiful.

My favorite picture from the weekend... Nora LOVES sleeping on pillows. She got up from the floor and curled up next to Megs...

For Dad's birthday, thanks to Pinterest, I found a great idea. 50 memories from 50 years. So I collect memories from new friends, old friends, friends close and friends far. It turned out great (thanks for everyone who submitted a memory).

Here is dad reading it:

I realize it's hard to see him- all his Camo blends in well w/ the camper! :)

The book turned out great and his exact quote was "i'm going to get you for this..."

He has touched many people's lives and I am so grateful to have such a great father as a role model, friend, and father.
