Redneck Wednesday's

Now that I've caught your attention- i'm sure you all are wondering what is "redneck wednesdays?" I'm 100 percent proud to say that every wednesday night, some of the Boan family (and some special guest) gets together for dinner. Yep you heard me every wednesday. Fun, right? It gets better. Not only do we eat dinner, but we usually are dressed in scrub clothes and no make up. We're getting closer to the 'redneck' portion (some of you may think i'm already there..but it gets worse..) So after dinner, the men grab their recurve bows and head to the woods- not only do the target practice, but they play their own version of "pig" or "horse" and not only shoot at targets but stuffed animals, fake deer, 3 legged fake hogs, or some shoot whatever they see, living or alive. Yep- thats redneck Wednesday. Not only does the term redneck fit into our Wednesday's but on holidays, instead of playing flag football like most families, we shoot clay pigeons and watching hunting videos. I wouldn't trade this in for anything. I'm a proud Boan (yes, i will always be a Boan) and love that we have a dedicated night for our family to spend time in fellowship and good food.

Now, Jon and I's good friend Cory got to join us for Redneck Wednesday this past week. Not only was he being introduced to all the Boan hillbillies but the menu made it worse- read for the main dish- FROG LEGS! Yep- you heard me right, my cousin and grandpa went frog hunting and had enough for share on Redneck Wednesday- when I told Cory what we were having for dinner his reaction "What am I getting myself into?" HA! Anyways- we were taught that frog legs in the South are expensive so we should be thankful for our hunting abilities that we can get 'em for free. Cory's conclusion of the frog legs: "not bad." :)

I took some pictures of the guys shooting so you could see what i'm talking about- if you feel like you want to be a part of Redneck Wednesday, you know who to contact.

This is Jon shooting his recurve- he is slowing turning redneck too! :)
Here is Cory shooting- from what I saw and heard- he did great his first time! He will slowly become a redneck too! (I bet it's the last time he wears his nikes)
This is my cousin Clay. He's a beast. Him and his some of his cousin have their own hunting DVD's.

This is my dad- his bow got twisted up from overheating so it's in the shop- so he borrowed an extra.
I'm just adding this because I love it. My aunt took a old grain bin and made it into this super cute decorative/flower house.

I look forward to every Wednesday night- it's not very common that every week your extended family gets together and it's something I know we all cherish. I challenge you to become closer to your family, email, call, text, twitter, skype, whatever it takes- we never know what tomorrow will bring, love those who love you.

I am starting something new: I am going to leave you with a scripture every time I blog. My goal is that one day, someone will read my blog and that GOD will answer their questions they have about the scripture I leave. I pray for those of you who don't know our Lord and I pray for those who do, including myself, that I continue to learn his word, so that one day, I can stand eye to eye with our Heavenly Father.

Psalms 32:8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you and watch over you.

Peace, Love, and Frog legs.
