Cooper: 8 Months

Oh Cooper baby- 8 months down... thats 8 months in the past already. It's gone so incredibly fast. I just keep thinking that in a short 3 months I'll be sending out your one year birthday invites and that does NOT seem possible.

This month was a challenge for us. You cut 4 teeth this month {makes for a total of 6 teeth} and so the entire month you were rather moody. Your moody is still isn't terrible but it was terrible compared to what we were used too! Your sleep was off, you didn't want solids, you were needy... shall I go on?

Food
Like I mentioned above, most days this month you really wanted absolutely nothing to do with solids. All you wanted was your bottle. This was a set back for us since you used to LOVE solids. Towards the end of the month, once you cut your last tooth, you were back to your eating machine self. You will eat any of the common fruit/veggie combos, any fruit combos, and any veggie combos. You really really like the combos that come in the gerber organic squeeze packets. You most likely down 2 of them in one sitting. Grandma and I were out shopping one day and luckily I had two with me because you sucked them both down within about 3 minutes- followed by some chicken from chik-fil-a. I kid you not. MONSTER when it comes to eating. You won't hardly take one bite of any of the meat meals.. I can't say that I blame you though. Your dad was rather worried you were going to be a picky eater because of this but then once we started feeding you our meats, you inhaled them. Turkey, Hamburger, ham, chicken... you name it, you eat it.

You get REALLY excited when you see people food- almost like you're obsessed with food already! ha! Hope you have your dads metabolism. It's cute, but its also an issues since you can't have 100% of everything we have. Grandma came up with the idea to blend up chicken noodle soup with crackers and you love that. So we do that as much as we can. You like carbs {just like your momma}- you'll eat rolls, bread, french fries, and crackers. You love ritz crackers! It's so weird to see you holding a cracker in your hand. You're also getting really good at picking up food and actually getting it in your mouth! :)

You still haven't figured out how to sit and drink your bottle.. you really want to though. You sit and hold it but suck on the nipple which in return just blows bubbles. We'll get there!

When you're done eating, you shake your head no. I love it :)

Clothes and Diapers

Somehow, 3 diapers are still fitting you :) I can honestly say though this is our last pack. 4's will fit you just fine as well. You have turned into quite the wiggle worm while trying to change your diaper. It's a bad bad habit that mom wishes you'll break soon! Just such a busy little boy.

You've just now starting wearing 9 month clothes. There are some of your 6 months that would fit you still. You wear gap and old navy jeans and they're 6-12 months but I don't think you'll be in them much longer. Grandma Boan always unbuttons them because she thinks when you sit down they cut into your big ole' tummy. 9 month pants are too long for you- shocker ;)

Sleep

Oh man, like I mentioned up top, this was a rough month, mostly with sleep. You were sleeping so, so good, 13 hours at a time. However, this month, you were up once, maybe two times a night. The two times a night was just a couple times. Yet, you're still up once a night to eat. Your night sleep schedule goes like this. Bed at 6:30-7:30 up to eat at 3:30-4:30 then back asleep till 7:30-8:00am. So, it's not bad, but it was a killer for your dad and I when we were used to all night sleeps.

Along with not sleeping at night, you were napping really poorly. However, towards the end of the month you were back to 2 naps a day. Your first one is usually 1 1/2 to 2 hours after you wake up in the morning and then 2/3 hours after that during the afternoon.

I also started dream feeding you every once in a while. What is dream feeding you may ask? Well, you go to bed early, we go to bed later. So we feed you to put you to bed and then when we go to bed I slip a bottle into your mouth and you eat away and bam, you sleep ALL NIGHT LONG. I usually did this when dad was on duty to let momma sleep! :)

When dad is home, he absolutely loves putting you to bed and also your early morning feeding. He says thats his time to bond with you. Since you aren't a cuddly baby, we tend to want to feed you because thats the only time you will let us hold you.

You also love the fact that you figured out how to stand in your bed. If you don't want to nap, you stand up and bang on the crib until we come get you. Then when we walk in, you smile real big like "i won, you sucker!" We also had to move your monitor. We just had it on your crib and you found it and you would also throw it off the crib when you fight your naps! We see the Boan personality poking through...just a tad bit ;)

Other
You are one active baby. Always on the go. Always into something. You started climbing the stairs this month! Why are you doing everything so quick. Slow down. You think the couch is a jungle gym. You will pull up on it and pull the pillows off then go over the cup holders and pull anything thats in them out. Hot mess. You have fallen so many times. Most of the time it doesn't phase you, however, there have been a couple times you cry so hard I have to blow in your face to get you to catch your breath and actually let out sound. Jon and I want to make bets on how soon we'll be visiting the ER! ha.

You grind your teeth. It's the most horrific sound in the world. After doing some research, about a third of babies 8-12 months do this. It's called bruxism and babies tend to do it for two reasons. 1. Rubbing the sharp edges of the teeth helps reduce gum pain of cutting the two front teeth. 2. It's a learning process. It's a new feeling/sensation. I try to give you you a teether when you do it, but you aren't really into the cold teethers so your attention span with them isn't long and you're back to grinding your teeth!

You have no desire to watch TV. Something will catch your eye here and there but you never sit and watch it. I'm very thankful for that! You're too busy for it.

You are chatty cathy now a days. Especially if no one is paying attention to you. You make it known you want peoples attention.

You love books. However, you got a puppet book for Christmas, it a curious george patty cake book and you freak out when the his arms move you put your hands over it like "stop". Its cute!

Your first Christmas.... blog post about that soon :)

Milestones/First
Climbing stairs
Eating lots of our food
no more bath tub- you take baths in the normal bath
First Christmas
You love showers- it didn't phase you when you tried out mom and dads new shower
Picking up things with your thumb/finger
Feels your teeth with your tongue
pulls up on our legs when want something
picks out favorite toys
New house :)
You stand using objects and can stand with just holding on with one hand. show off :)
You're cause and effect is outstanding. You've figured out how to open drawers and also cabinets. You would rather do this then play with your toys.
When you play with your toys, you pick one thing and really work on it. It's usually anything that moves in a circle that you use one finger to push in a circle. It's adorable.
You study everything. Again, you use your pointer finger to feel anything that may be new or that you're studying.
You are STRONG!!!!!!!! You pulled a very small door off your walker the other day... I don't think I could have even pulled it off.

..i'm sure i'm missing something!

I am going to eliminate your likes and dislikes section- for now.  I feel like it's not changing terrible much to have a whole section. Most things will be typed in paragraph form from here on out! Things change quickly.

Teeth
You have 6 teeth. I'm a firm believer this is why God told me earlier on that breastfeeding wasn't for you and I! :) When you smile now, you see all those teeth and it's so adorable.

Follow me on instagram for more pictures of Cooper! :) L_Johnson12
