Cooper Wylie Johnson

Well, here I sit, watching Cooper dose off and thinking a nap would be great as well but I've put off blogging about his birth long enough that I'm forcing myself to do so now!!

Cooper here's how your birth day went down--

Monday 4.22 I went to bed and thought that maybe my water was leaking a tad bit- or - I was back to peeing the bed. I went to sleep about 10ish and woke up at 12:30 and again thought my water was leaking-- I wasn't sure so I just went to the bathroom and back to bed- so I thought. About 1am I had my first contraction- I woke Jon up around 1:30 letting him know what was going on. The pain was tolerable but I didn't get any sleep. I started timing them and they were rather close together for just starting. My good friend Christie is a night nurse so I was texting with her at all crazy hours of the morning making sure all was okay. Once I got up for the day I took a shower and ate some lunch and the contractions pretty much stopped. I thought you were maybe just joking and wasn't planning on making your arrival, which I would have felt really bad because your dad called in to the station and told them you were potentially on your way.

My doctors office called to confirm my appointment for Tuesday and while I had them on the phone I told the nurse what was going on. She suggested that I come in for a check Monday instead of Tuesday so at 4:30 we went to the doctor. He checked me and told me I was a 2 and could go upstairs now or go home and eat dinner and relax and come later. He was convinced he'd see me back Monday night. Well he was right, I started having contractions pretty hardcore again that evening and by 8:30 I was in tears and decided to head to the hospital. We were trying to wait until the voice was over but that didn't happened!

We did pre-registration with you so check in was painless! We walked right up to the birthing center and checked right into room 529. They didn't waste anytime and had me in bed with IV and blood drawn quickly. Our labor and delivery nurse, Julie, was actually someone I knew so that made the experience even more fun!

Julie checked me and I was only at a 4. Although, some progress since 4:30 I knew we still had a while to go. Grandma and Grandpa Boan and Grandma Johnson got to the hospital about 9pm and hung out with us all night. I told Julie that I didn't want an epidural, however, I quickly changed my mind. Every contraction the entire room's mood would change. Jon hated seeing me in pain and my mom struggled with it as well. I hopped into the bath tub to try to work through with without the epidural- I spent probably an hour or so in there- it felt great, but I was still struggling. Jon and I talked and he reminded me that if I got en epidural not to be ashamed or to feel like I failed. Thats all I needed to hear and within 10min they had the first bag of fluids in me...

The epidural was done about midnight, so by time, I had gone 24 hours with contractions. They said it would probably take 3ish contractions before the epidural worked.... my body must process quickly because I had one right when he got done inputting it and Jon said "did you feel that" and I said "nope..." boy oh boy why did I wait so long to get that sucker. I slept, Jon relaxed, my mom slept... it was much more enjoyable. I don't feel like a failure for getting one at all and I will never not have another one again :)

2:30am rolled around and my water broke... around 3:30ish Julie asked me if I was feeling any pressure and I said "oh maybe a little" and she checked and she said "girl, you're a 10 and he's right there..." She called my doctor to come quickly since you were so low. She wouldn't even let me push at all until doc got there. Around 4:15 doctor got there and they had everything all ready. I pushed once and then doctor took over... 1 more push and doctor said "you're very strong, push just a little," the cord was wrapped around your neck and so they had to get that off {no problems} and then I pushed a very little bit and you were here! 4:22am on 4.23.13.... 7lbs 6oz 19.5in long...Cooper Wylie Johnson

you were amazed with your dad and I. you cried jut a tad bit and then was wide eyed and looked right at your dad and I. it was beautiful. you were perfect. we thanked God right away for you! You did not like when the nurses took you- you screamed and cried the entire time!

I was exhausted by this point. We had been up for over 48 hours. Once the grandparents left. I crashed. Your first visitor was you Aunt Stephaine at 6am and people poured in after that. We were overwhelmed yet enjoyed everyone meeting you. You were so good- you let everyone hold you without making a peep.

You started spitting up some gross stuff and they ended up pumping 4cc's of afterbirth nasty stuff out of your little tummy. You started eating a little better after that although you were down to 6lbs 13oz when we left the hospital. You're now back up over birthweight.

Cooper, we love you to pieces and couldn't imagine life without you. We pray daily that you grow to be a man after God's heart and we know you will accomplish big things. You're a mighty one and we can't wait to see you grow up!

Jon's crew came to see you!

Daddy bonding time!

All your family looking at how darn cute you are!

Going home! :)

I had full intentions of taking all sorts of pictures for this post- that plan failed miserably. Oh well, y'all get the point- Cooper Wylie was born and that's allllll that matters! :)

Love you Cooper,

Mom
