I got invited by a dear friend to a trunk show last night. {Don't stop reading- you'll want to hear about this!} I figured it was just like any other direct sales company-- listen to a speech, shop around, and spend money.
I was wrong. My eyes were opened and my world was rocked.
Noonday Collection.
Here's a little bit of their story:
After visit Uganda in February of 2010 and holding hundreds of children without moms and dads, Joe and Jessica Honegger (the founder) decided to adopt internationally {from Rwanda}. Also on that visit, they met up with long time friends who had lived in Uganda for many years trying to create sustainable income opportunities for the Uganda people. They asked Jessica if she would like to sell their fair-trade locally made goods in Austin, in order to raise money for the costly adoption process. Jessica agreed and the first Noonday Collection trunk show was born!
At Noonday Collection, we believe every child belongs in a
family. While the owner is no longer raising money for their Rwandan adoption
(though they think more adoptions will come), the vision remains the same. We
advocate for the orphan by:
- Providing jobs that create a pathway out of poverty for families. A stable income means a family is less likely to abandon their children.
- Help families raise money for their own adoptions. We give 10% of truck show sales directly to the adoptive family when they host a trunk show.
- Aside from donating 10% towards qualified adoptive families, Noonday Collection also gives towards orphan care and prevention. (Watch the video to see one of our beneficiaries)
- The dream: take YOU on a trip to visit artisans and visit orphans in their distress.
t Meet the Artisans; Noonday Collection Artisans come from all over; Ethiopia, USA, India, Uganda, Peru, Guatemala, Ecuador and Madagascar.
As you can see this isn't your average day direct sales company. Noonday Collection serves a purpose and it start for a purpose. In no way am I asking you to jump on their website and start buying- however, some of you may be in the adoption process, praying about it, or know someone who is. I wanted to introduce this company to those who can find use from it. It laid heavy on my heart, knowing that when I buy a piece from this collection; it's helping women, men, and families eat dinner, go to school, wear clothes, etc.
Just like our ambassador told us last night; you don't have to buy anything tonight but next time you need a gift or a necklace to go with that dress, check out Noonday Collection {not to mention their stuff is super cute} but it's also handmade from people who care.
If you or someone you know may be interested in hosting a trunk show let me know and I'll get you in contact with Holly, our local ambassador.
{side note: there are only 50 people in the entire USA who are Noonday Collection Ambassadors.. lets help spread the word on this cause worthy company}
